Going to “New” Parks with Children’s Playground Equipment

At the beginning of the summer, Riley decided one day that he wanted to go “to a new park.”  Since then, almost everytime we decide to go to the park it needs to be a new park.  Today was no different, so I drove around a new neighborhood for a minute and came across yet another park.  This one was an older park with one of the older wooden playground equipment and metal slides (not too bad today since it was only 9:30 so the sun hadn’t heated them up too much yet).  I’m not too fond of these parks, but the boys like them so that is what matters.

They had fun.  We played on the children’s playground equipment then went over to the basketball court where Riley and Tanner tried very hard to make a basket, but at 2 and 4 it is still just a little too high for them :)  Then we went on the swings for a minute and for the first time, Tanner fell off and hit his head (luckily he wasn’t going very high) but we managed to erase it from his mind quickly.  And then they decided to run through the sprinklers and play in a couple of puddles.  It was a good morning.

Seeking out new parks has been a lot of fun this summer.  I’d say we have been to approximately 20 different parks and playgrounds throughout the area (we count schools as parks too).  It has been a great way to go to different parts of town and see new neighborhoods and also see the excitement in their eyes everytime we find a new one.  We live in a town of about 55000 people so not terribly large but big enough to find some fun playgrounds and interesting outdoor playground equipment.
